Montessori Primary Preschool Classroom

Little Belt Montessori is proud to offer a boutique, intentionally designed and implemented Montessori classroom for 16 children in Downtown Helena, Montana. We offer an opportunity for your child to explore a full set of Montessori materials, all while being intentionally guided by a trained, certified and experienced Montessori Lead Guide. The materials in the Montessori curriculum cover all developmental domains, and the five main areas of the classroom include Practical Life, Sensorial, Math, Language and Cultural areas, with a full scope of materials in each area. The child has the opportunity to explore these materials, following their own internal interests within the environment, all under the guidance of an AMS and MACTE certified Lead Guide.

The role of the Lead Guide is to observe the child’s ability and interest, and help them make choices that are appropriate for their age and ability. Maria Montessori designed these materials to be auto-didactic, each having their own, specific learning concept built into the material, along with a control of error which allows the child to recognize their own errors and removes the correcting adult voice from the scenario. This allows the child to reframe their relationship with their own errors, removing the adult-child power dynamic from the equation. This lets the child have a framework for their learning that is based on their own choices, and their own grappling with how their world works: how they impact it, and how it impacts them. All this, under the careful observation and guidance of an experienced, trained and certified Montessori Lead Guide.
